By recognizing the importance of educating all segments of society since they constitute a key factor in the fight against the novel coronavirus, governments developed innovative tools and apps to deliver accurate information and raise awareness of the importance of social distancing and other health-related matters to join all efforts and protect people from the virus.

Dubai Police recently launched one of the latest methods to raise awareness of the COVID-19 pandemic and invited people to join their biker unit initiative to educate others about the importance of preventive measures and assist to fight this global pandemic.  This new initiative allows volunteers to ride Dubai Police bicycles and patrol the Emirate to stress the importance of social distancing and distribute protective gear, such as masks for those not wearing any in public spaces.

Volunteers will raise awareness in specific regions in Dubai, such as JBR, Arabian Ranches, City Walk, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, and Al Khawaneej. The Dubai Police General Command has disclosed a number of conditions for joining the bikers unit like being physically fit to ride a bicycle and having a certificate proving that the volunteer has not been infected by COVID-19.

Moreover, one supervisor will be assigned to each team and participants will be provided with police jackets and protective gear to ensure their safety. A paramedic will also be available to take first aid measures when needed. Those interested can submit a request to participate in this exceptional initiative, which is the first of its kind in the country, through the official website of Dubai Police.
