COVID-19 has changed the way people interact with each other, as dozens of requests are submitted to receive various services via remote video technologies. Reliance on these technologies has reached the health sector, which is now applying innovative solutions to foster communication between clinics and healthcare systems. Nowadays, public and private healthcare providers are developing remote medical services that include online consultations to avoid passing the infection to the medical staff. Moreover, due to the nature of physicians’ work and the possibility of carrying the virus, remote medical services protect patients as well from contracting the virus inside hospitals.
In this context, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) is cooperating with Injazat Data Systems to launch the Remote Healthcare App for smartphones and devices. This initiative aims at harnessing AI technologies and strengthening healthcare’s digital infrastructure by providing a comprehensive digital platform that allows all society members to receive remote medical advice and support.
This app allows users easy and safe access to preliminary medical diagnostic services and necessary information without having to physically visit the clinic or hospital and run the risk of infection. The app provides the necessary medical support to people with chronic diseases, the elderly, and those in need of medical prescriptions who do not want to visit hospitals given the current situation, as well as those who have been infected with COVID-19 and are isolated at home or in quarantine.
The app features an Artificial Intelligence-driven tool for examining symptoms and diagnosing non-emergency cases, as well as a system for booking appointments and remote consultations with doctors via voice or video calls or texts, and medical prescriptions and logistics services. Through this system, prescriptions will be assigned to pharmacies that will deliver medicines directly to patients via online channels, upon obtaining the approval of insurance companies.
People who have been infected with COVID-19 and are required to stay at home can also benefit from the app by reaching out to a specialized medical team of doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals, who will provide all the necessary healthcare support remotely, and closely monitor the patient’s situation until they are fully recovered. The app is available on Android and iOS devices, in both Arabic and English.
